Vector Portraits are digital illustrations created using shapes, lines, and paths instead of pixels. This type of artwork became especially important with the growth of digital graphic design because vector graphics can be resized without losing quality. I wanted to study vector portraiture because it is a good way to practice recognizing shapes, building contrast, and understanding how different parts of a composition work together.

 

This was my first attempt at creating a vector portrait of myself. I broke the portrait down into simplified shapes and focused on using clean edges to make recognizable facial features. 

 

I was really happy with how my first attempt turned out, and it made me want to continue experimenting with vector portraits in the future.
